A recent article about Tibetan self immolation, combined with the constant assault from US mass media concerning mainstream politics, made me think of this video. The wrong people are always the ones who, in desperation, try to make their point through suicide. Many of you have seen this, but some of you young and impressionable folk who haven’t ….should. This man was an example of our times, making more impact out of his death than his further existence ever could. When he began his career, he more than likely had the best of intentions, like everyone at first….born pure…corrupted through time by a system that he initially believed in. His disenchantment with the actual reality of politics combined with his guilt over becoming a part of the problem he more than likely once despised or was naive to, caused him to deliver this final act. The system that he helped feed and perpetuate, turned on him and decided to penalize him in an attempt to protect itself and appear “just” in the eyes of the public. This man regained his dignity through death and selflessly ensured his family’s well being through the financial benefits they received. If every other power hungry money obsessed politician alive could allow the light of truth and conscience to shine through the disgusting cancer ridden rot of their walking death maybe they could find it in their hearts to make such examples out of themselves. Our political system is a money fueled scum factory hellbent on the preservation of wealth and power and the sooner everyone wakes the fuck up and knocks it off with this Republican/Democrat bullshit the better.
Don’t ever let intrinsic joy become replaced with lust for externalities such as money and power. Stay passionate and informed and true to yourself and empathetic towards the situations and paths that those around you have walked. Fuck CNN and Fox News and CNBC and every single politician who has ever made a decision or has influenced lawmaking because of the influence of money or power. Keep your wits about you, people. It’s easy to “checkout” and feel as though you have no power or that things on such a large scale are confusing or unimportant in your daily life. That is precisely how people in power hope you will feel. Give yourself the satisfaction of knowing that you aren’t so easily fooled.
